Narrative

Matthias Fleck - Landau - 1841-1864 - son of Johann, was born in 1802, in the village of Wingen, in Elass (Alsace) France. He came to Russia with his widowed mother (whose maiden name was Schlick) in 1809, where they settled as colonists in Landau. In 1824, he married Elisabeth Bospflug. During the 23 years of his term of office, many important events occurred in the Beresan, and in the German colonies in South Russia. The Crimean War of 1854-1856, was such an event when the German colonist distinguished themselves by giving all possible help.
